Overview

We are the only forestry biotechnology group listed on the Singapore Exchange.

We use the latest biotechnological and tissue culturing methods to propagate plantlets to meet the growing market demand, support the agricultural industry and encourage better forestry management practices.

Based in Shanghai, the People's Republic of China, Guangzhao Industrial Forest Biotechnology Group Limited ("Guangzhao" or "the Group") is engaged in tissue culture and propagation of plantlets and saplings. Its main product, the Guangzhao Fast-Growing Poplar, is a unique poplar which is able to grow at twice the normal rate and reach a height of 16-20 metres within four to five years. Currently, its acquired pine and tissue-cultured poplar are planted in over 18,600 hectares spread across eight provinces in the PRC for eventual harvest and sale to the pulp, board-making and timber industries.

Building upon the Group's successful commercialisation of tissue culture for poplar trees, the Group has in recent years begun supplying plantlets and saplings for other plant species both within the PRC and Southeast Asia. These include Jatropha, orchids, tropical fruit such as banana, and non-poplar trees such as the Oriental Fir. Established in 1999, Guangzhao was listed on the Singapore Exchange in July 2004. The Group's founders believe that tissue culture of plants will not only yield commercial rewards for its shareholders and other stakeholders, but will also contribute positively to environmental preservation.
